Smart cars have been available in Canada for a number of years. They are now available in the United States, but will they become a big seller or will people still gravitate to buying hybrid Toyota's and Honda's. The Smart car, which is made by Mercedes, runs on gas. It is not a hybrid, which is when a vehicle runs on gas and electricity. The Smart car can go 40 miles on each gallon of gas and costs around $12,000 to buy new.

I think that the "Smart Car" is a great option for the economy and the world. It will help control pollution a bit, and it will also help economy by not having to buy as much gas anymore. Although the bad thing about the smart car is that there are many big families and if the smart car gets popular families aren't going to be able to travel together anymore. and another bad thing about the smart car is that it is not reccomended for long trips and there are many people that like traveling so that would not be an option. So in my opinion it really depends on the people.
Think that "Smart Car" is good to the community because they use less gas and you safe more money for other thins. Another reason is that they are cause more accidents. But I think is cool.

I think the smart car is a really good car to ues because it does't need as much gas as other cars and it also does't ues electricity and maybe by using less gas and electricity can help us control pollution.
Great comments ladies. I think the Smart car is a great choice because it uses less gas and gives off less pollution as a result. Plus parking is a breeze (that means very easy), even on a crowded street.
I Think the smart car looks,sounds like a good car. but $12,000 for one sounds a lot of money i doubt people wanna pay that much. If i had money ill Try it out to see how it runs.

Fernando - Great comment. You're right, it is pretty expensive to buy. That may cause less people to buy it because there are other cars for less than 12, 000 dollars on the market.
Becky - Smart cars still run on gas. They just use less because they can go further on a gallon of gas compared to most cars.
Hoa - Nice work. Glad to see you are aware of global warming. You're right that the Smart car will give off a lot less carbon dioxide and be much better for the environment.
Sandy, I like your point that Smart cars are not suitable for families to travel together or for longer trips. Great ideas. It certainly depends on the people's use. It would be perfect for commuter's.
I think this is a really good idea because it's going to help the enviorment around us. Less gas means that it won't pullude the air as much as it does now. The Smart car also sounds expensive for a small car.
I thik that by selling the smart car is a good thing but it can also have negative things to it.The good thing about having these kinds ofcars is that it helps peoples with saving more money.With the smart car you don;t havr to speed so much money tring to put moregas in it. Another thing is that itcan fit in places a regular car can't.So what happends when someone owns this car then does something bad and the police are tring to make him pull over he that person doesn't and he goesin where a police car can't.Other then that i think that the samrt car is going to sale fastbecause it looks nice it doesn't use so much gas and it looks nice todrive.
My dad has a Ford. Idon't know if it uses a lot of gas.I think it looks nice compered to our old van he used to own. I'm so glad he got the Ford.I would be imberised to be seen in tha old van.oh and it's a 2006 and it's a white van. Mydad got a van beacuse we are a big family.

I think the smart car is a good idea because it dosn't use as much gas as other cars and will be good for the pollution and the air will be cleaner outside.
Hybrid is better than the smart cars. hybrid is much bigger and it runs on electricity. If you look at the smart cars it small. there is no space to relax or do anything in the car. I see hybrid running on the roads but I don't see smart cars on the road much as the hybrid. I don't think the smart cars would be a hit in united states. My family has a Honda van. We like the van because it nice and big. If we get the smart cars our family wont fit in the car because our family is 5 and it looks like smart car is only for 2 people.

I dont really like this new car. I think its too small and it can go only 40 miles per gallon. I think its going to be popular in the United States. This car mostly for old ladies because they dont speed up and they usualy dont need huje cars. The most important thing that you dont have to buy gas for this car, you can safe alots of money on it.

Great opinion, Hiroaki. Love that you express your opinion freely. Electric cars, or hybrids, may be better for the environment, but you have to think about how we get electricity. Often it is through burning coal which gives off a lot of pollution too. Something to think about.

12,000 sounds very good for rich people.I would buy it if i had the money.If people had it it would be veter less traffic but is good.

This car is gonna be great because of the fact that you will drive with gas and you will safe a lot of money, The car it self is loking good but its samll one thing i really don't like but it's okay. But the fact is that is great to have it when your on the city example Mr.Enn's coming to school with his "smart car" not spending a lot of money and traveling comfortable by him self.
