Personal attacks OK or NOT?

You've probably seen a lot of these two faces over the last few months. They are presidential candidates Barack Obama and John McCain. They have been campaigning against each other for quite a few months now in hopes of winning the office of President of the United States of America.

As they campaign they give many speeches and also have debated each other once so far. They will be debating two more times over the next two weeks (Oct 7 & 15). During the campaign there is a lot of talk from both sides. Some of it is about issues America is facing and some of it is simply comments to put down the other candidate.

There is a recent article stating that John McCain has been trying to destroy Obama's reputation by attacking him with personal comments. This is often the case in presidential elections and Obama has made similar comment to McCain.

Do you think they should be attacking each other personally or should they be only talking about issues facing our country? What are some of the issues you think they should be talking about? What are the most important issues/problems in your opinion? What would you like to see them answer in the next debate?

I think that politicians spend too much time criticizing each other and not enough time talking about the real issues. They should be trying to find solutions to the problems we have in this country, instead of fighting with one another. At the same time, it is a competition to win the White House (to become President) so it's hard to blame them for being competitive. The current immigration policy is an issue that needs to be discussed. We need to find better ways to protect the borders and yet also give rights to those people that have come to the United States from other countries. We also need to understand and protect our environment and the government needs to be a part of this process. Oil and other fossil fuels are not the best way to create energy and so we need to find other energy sources. Americans waste too much and this contributes to land fills that are overloaded. We are running out of room for our garbage. Therefore, we need to reduce, reuse, and recycle better as a country. These are some of the issues that I believe the two candidates should be talking about.

I also think that they should be trying to find solutions to fix them, and instead of fighting with each other. But i think at the same time it seems kind of hard to become a President because its a huge competition for both of them to win the White House. I also think that they are fighting with each other because maybe they both really want the White House so thats why they are criticizing each other, and not spending to much time talking about what the real problems that we are facing in our country.

i think that they should be talking about the country not each other. if there talking about each other then what's the point of them running for president if they are only talking about them selfs. they should be talking about the war and how they are going to stop it.

politicians need to make up their mind because they are always arguing about who's the best. People need to choose because if they don't they will never know who's gonna be the president of the united states.

I think that if people want to became president they how to now how to take care of the country and how to give orders to other people and is not just about the country is also about the the people in the country he needs to learn how make better laws and not just lie like bush.
we need a president that nows how to fight in the war not just send a lot of people because a lot of people end up dieing and thats sad because they try to save are country but they die.
thats way we need a new president.

I think they should not attack each other it's not the right thing to do. Instad they of attacking each other they sould talk about whats going on in the world. Some issues they sould be talking about are globe worming, wars, and changing the freedom. In my opinion some issues that are going on are not having lots of freedom because they trying to send people back where they come from, only because thier immigrants. I would like to see what is going to happen to the people that don't have social security number.

well i think the presidents should make up there minds because they are fighting 2 see who's the best but it realy is what they would do for the states and what the people think who is the best for the state and the best is gona be the one who is gona stay as a president because they would chose the one who's better for the satates and it depends.

I think it's okay that politician attack each other because it show you how well they know about another. It's also give you a hint about who you gonna vote for? i think this is freedom country and if the political chose to attack each other by speech just let them to that. that make the running for the president more interesting. i don't care who is the president, but one thing i'm sure about is they never do what they said.

I agree with Mr. Enns, they do stay too much time critizing instead of realing taking time and relizing whats is the real issue. But in my perspective what I think about politics, they talk about how there going to help with this, but really fooling us just to vote for them. I think the two politions need to talk about more serious things then just fool around, like our environment it has enough polution, but I haven't seen a change on it. I think also immigration is a big issue, they need to spend time thinking want they want to change, not what they want us to think about there aponant. Or even the people that are suffering in Africa they need more help than the rich people. They need to see the problems in the world, and face it that its not lala land, its the real world. I hope that Barack Obama thinks of the real war. (I'm glad he is going to be president)
