Did you know that I wanted to be a dentist when I was in high school? Really, I did. It's in my high school yearbook as the career that I was interested in pursuing. 2007 was the 10 year reunion of my graduation from high school and if I had been able to go back to Winkler, Manitoba (the place I used to live) all my old classmates would've expected me to be a dentist. Instead I have traveled the world as an English teacher, living in China and the Philippines, as well as spending time in Thailand and Singapore.
How did I come to be a teacher instead of a dentist? After high school I decided to go to a Bible college for one year. Well one year turned into three and sometime during those three years I became interested in teaching English. Upon graduating (after three years) I went to China to teach with a team of people. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Intercultural Studies and TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). Teaching in China was an awesome experience. After returning from China I went back to school to get my Master of Arts degree because I felt I needed more education in order to be the best teacher I could. That took two more years of full-time school.
A couple years ago my wife and I lived in the Philippines for a year and once again had a great experience overseas. For the last two years I have been teaching high school ELL at Gresham and Barlow high school. I definitely feel like teaching is the career for me, but it took some time and wasn't the one I thought I would be doing when I was in high school.
What about you? What kind of career are you interested in at this point? Why are you interested in that career? Do you already have skills or experience that will help you with that career?

I'm interesting in the engineering. I go to CAL and I'm taking engineering but its really hard. Like on the blog something happens and you wanted to be this but instead you became different then you wanted to be. I want to do something that involves engineering but maybe it will change in the future.
IS very interesting to read all the stuff the you did in your life. What i will like to be is a secratary. I like working inside sitting down. thats waht i want tobe when i graduate next year.

I thick that’s good because you don’t know that you wanted to be a teacher in till you got out of school. I’m not shore yet that I want to be a fashion designer. I hope I pass all my class this year so I can graduate.

Well you really are a great teacher and that's to bad you didn't became a dentits... but that was great! cause no one likes a dentist...
roxyIt was really interesting reading his story to see what he wanted to be when he graduat and when I graduat I would want to be a teacher because they enjoy working with others and I get to tech them thats way I want to be a teacher.
Thanks Erik. You're right, hopefully as a teacher more people will like me than if I was a dentist. However, I would probably make more money as a dentist.
well that's good that you already had an idea of what you wanted to be in high school but once you keep geting closer to graduate you keep changing in tell you end up being something diffrent from what you wanted to be.
My idea of being right now is being a model because I been wanted to be a model seince I was like 7 or 8. sometimes I think of how much fun it would be to be in the run way with the other models. this summer they called me from the Barbazon talent in portland to see if I was intrensing in modeling i got so exited but then my dad did not have time to take me becasue he had to much work. So later this year there going to call me again to see if I'm Inrestining in modeling and this time i better go.

I`M INTERESTED IN BEING A DOTOR. BECAUSE I LIKE TO HELP PEOPLE.ALSO IN THE FUTure PEOPLE ARE GOING TO NEED MORE DOTER`S TO HELP. PEOPLE TELL ME THATS A GREAT JOB FOR ME. BUT I DON`T REALY KNOW YET. I don't know!!! I'm not really sure that I want, but I have in my mind to be an architecht or a graphic designer. Sometimes you have skills of other things but you don't have the skills that you need to be whatever you want!!!

Thats cool you wanted to be a dentist.but its better that your a teacher because you get to be with nice kids.
For my career I wuold more then love to an interpetator.I would like to have this as a career because I get to us this both english and spanish. I think that this is a very good thing because I get to help other people that don't understand the language. Another reson. I would like this as a career is because I get to talk to other people and get to work close to them and also get to know them.
I also do some interpertating for my family and frinds.I also had to make a hpone call last night for my mom.I had to help her to ask some questions she needed.i really enjoy doing this. I cuold see my self doing this for a career.
i want to be a translator. because i can speak 3 more language. Chinease, Japanese and English. i like to be a trabslateor. u can speak different kind of language.it's fun!
I am interested in being a security guard because its an easy job and you only need a high school diploma. It's very amazing that you went through so much schooling to become a teacher.
I think that it is not easy to get a job.Only the people that are good at oter things and know how to talk and write good english.

Well the career i think is Ok for me is. Construction Because that job pays good and if i go to collage i cloud become the leader of the construction crew and not in the crew.
I would like become a doctor in order to help people. It's a promising job in my opinion. I want to be helpful by being a doctor in the future. It's important to choose a suitable job however I have already made my decision to become a doctor surely.
Teaching is a demanding job and teachers are always there for their students therefore it's definitely a respectable job for everyone.
I'm interested to be a registered nurse because this job it's a really hard work. This is what i want to do when i guatuate next year.
